Shawn Scully and Igor Stanko Join Nominal to Lead Hardware Intelligence and Data Platform
Nominal
Meet Shawn and Igor, the newest leaders to join Nominal's senior leadership team, bringing a track record of building frontier technologies for organizations that can't afford to get it wrong.

This week, we're excited to welcome two new leaders to the team: Shawn Scully and Igor Stanko.
Scully has spent his career creating first-of-their-kind products where AI and data meet the physical world. At Apple, he was a founding leader in the Machine Intelligence group, leading efforts across Apple Watch, Health, Accessibility, Home, and new hardware. His team built end to end, from multimodal sensor collection and annotation to model training, extreme edge inference, and live evals, taking features including Double Tap, AssistiveTouch, and Handwashing Detection to more than 100 million people. Before Apple, he led product and go-to-market at Turi, an early ML platform for developers, growing it from zero to more than 100 enterprise customers through its acquisition by Apple. He started as a physicist in hard-tech energy startups, where his days looked a lot like our customers': new materials and devices, measurement and simulation, test rigs and manufacturing hardware, and a world-record solar module. He holds a PhD from Stanford and more than 20 patents. Few people have taken new technology from the lab to the factory floor and from prototype to millions. He'll lead our AI strategy and the team building intelligence across Nominal's platform.
We've learned that to be useful, agents need the right context, a rich action space, and a way to verify their work. Nominal has been laying the foundation for all three. Now we get to bring them to hardware, changing how the world engineers and unlocking AI for the physical world.Shawn Scully
GM of Hardware Intelligence
Stanko has spent his career building products that become inseparable from how the world's most demanding customers operate. At Microsoft, he grew the company's cloud data-analytics business into a $400M+ line, used by some of the largest enterprises to turn oceans of raw data into something people could actually query and act on, the same fundamental problem hardware teams face today. He kept chasing that problem at Firebolt, shipping next-generation cloud data products, and most recently at Cockroach Labs, where his products powered the real-time payments and core banking systems that Fortune 50 banks depend on, places where a single second of downtime is unacceptable. Earning that level of trust takes real discipline and relentless focus. Those are the same values we hold at Nominal, and we're excited to see that obsession and devotion now pointed at hardware engineers. He'll scale our product function as the company grows.
I've spent my career making sure engineers can trust the products they're using. In high-stakes environments, that trust is what lets them move as fast as their mission demands. The stakes are higher than ever for engineers building hardware, and they keep climbing. The Nominal team is building exactly what engineers need to meet the moment.Igor Stanko
